Giulio Sarchiola (’82) is a photographer based in Rome.
He studied anthropology and sociology at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. From 2003 to 2004 he was the first assistant of the French photographer Marc Riboud in Paris. From 2005 to 2007 he was based in Beijing from where he worked as correspondent for the Contrasto photo agency. Today he’s still represented by Contrasto.
His works have been exhibited at the Piemonte Museum of Natural Science, the Adriano Olivetti Foundation, the Italian Cultural Centre of Beijing and the Nardini Palace. His pictures have been published by GQ (Italy), Newsweek (U.S.), Vanity Fair (Italy), Le Monde, Io Donna, D di Repubblica, Internazionale, L’Espresso, Courier International, Ventiquattro and others. His institutional and corporate clients include MACRO (Rome Museum of Cotemporary Art), the Italian Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Enel, the Rome Foundation and others.
In 2009 his work, Clinical Zone, was awarded the best portfolio at the Festival FotoGrafia of Rome. In 2010 his work Androids won the first price at the Canon Young Photographers Award.
